School for Peace
Hundreds of secondary school students across Indonesia are beneficiaries of this scholarship. The scholarship was named in honor of a member of the Nahdlatul Ulama Banser taskforce who lost his life while evacuating a bomb from a church in Mojokerto on Christmas Day 2000.
This scholarship program is aimed at nurturing Indonesian children who are educated in and oriented towards peace, tolerance and the respect for diversity.
The Riyanto Scholarship currently has 263 recipients in Java, South Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi. The Foundation hopes that the scholarship not only provides a solution for the recipient so that they can enjoy a formal education, but also can strengthen their awareness and understanding of tolerance, openness and fundamental human rights.
